Add to Lightbox
Two Schistosoma mansoni schistosomes (human blood fluke or Manson's blood fluke; phylum Platyhelminthes, class Trematoda). Male schistosomes have a groove along their body that females can fit into; this preserved slide shows the male (on the outside), with a female partially embedded into his groove (she is the darkly stained individual). Schistosoma lives in human blood. Seen at approximately 40x magnification.
