Fritillary reflecting

Buy Add to Lightbox
A gulf fritillary [Agraulis vanillae incarnata] rests on a blade of lemongrass [Cymbopogon sp.]. The bright orange of its forewing is just barfly visible; it's fun to watch the butterfly decide whether to expose the bright colors or not. The whitish spots on the bottom of its wings are reflecting silverfish light in this image.
