A closeup side view of an _Ariocarpus fissuratus_ flower. _Ariocarpus fissuratus_ is a small, slow-growing succulent plant native to Northern Mexico. It flowers only in the fall, in response to shortening daylength. This specimen, photographed at the Orange Coast College Horticulture Department, is more than 20 years old.
